Long Clawson School is a Church of England School and as such has close links with our Parish Church, St. Remigius. Opportunities are taken for the children to visit the Church regularly for occasions such as Harvest Festival, Christmas Carol Service, Easter Service and Leavers’ Service. In addition we welcome clergy from the Church of England Benefice of Vale of Belvoir , the Methodist Church and the Baptist Church into school to speak to the children during collective worship assemblies.
Religious Education is an important part of the how and why we live. The school positively seeks to promote tolerance of fellow human beings regardless of gender, race or creed.
The children are taught about Christianity and the other main religions. The emphasis on moral issues and children are encouraged to consider their relationships with other people. As a parent you have a legal right to withdraw your child from R.E. if you so wish. The same right applies to the daily act of collective worship.
Our SIAMS report from May 2015 stated that:
'Pupils gain much from the wide range of experiences through both curricular and extra-curricular activities. This, along with their understanding of cultures and faiths contributes very well to their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.'
