Remembrance Day

On Friday morning, those in Years 4/5/6 walked to the Remembrance stone in the centre of the village, to hang their poppies and messages. They created the most beautiful ‘poppy tree’ and we have received lots of comments from residents about what a ‘fitting tribute’ the children have paid on the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI.

Also on Friday, the whole School, along with lots of parents and members of our community, attended a Remembrance Service at St. Remigius Church. The children wore poppies they had made, showed their poppy pictures and performed poetry written by our Great War poets. Y6 read newspaper reports and their own poetry. They read out the names of the soldiers from our village who have given their lives during the war and Josh took Tilly’s hand and together they laid a wreath. Mr Elliot gave an address and led prayers and we sang hymns and songs about peace. Our Remembrance Service was a wonderful tribute to all those who have fought and lost their lives in conflict.
