The third and final Leicestershire Primary Schools Cross Country event took place on Nov 25th and was attended by fifteen children and over 25 supporters from Long Clawson, including brothers, sisters, mums, dads, uncles and grand parents!!
It was an extremely cold day, but despite this and the muddy conditions our amazing team out performed themselves. With our new "Long Clawson Flag" providing us all with a base, every one was very proud of their own performance and there was a real team spirit.
Waiting for the results was very nerve racking, as we knew that we could be in the running for a few bronze medals, but you can imagine the roar that went up from "Team Long Clawson" when the Year 3 Girls won Silver, coming second overall in the Small Schools Category (out of 46 schools) a truly amazing result and fantastic running by Norah, Grace, Ava and Eve.
The Year 4 Girls, Isabel, Eloise and Erika were equally ecstatic when they were awarded the Bronze medal, although on the website it shows the girls in second position! They have definitely won Bronze, but it could be upgraded to Silver!
It was a tense time waiting to hear the how the Year 5 Boys, Josh, Stan and Ben had done and when they didn't get the third position they were hoping for, there was a real sense of disappointment, as the boys had pushed themselves so hard. So when it was announced they had come second and won Silver, all their hard work paid off.
Not everyone in the team won a medal, but there has to be a special mention for Oli, Isla and Olivia, who never had anyone else from Long Clawson to line up with them at the start, but came to every event and ran with real focus and determination.
We would like to say a huge thank you to all the people who came along to support the runners, they were all so encouraging, they made our team such a great group to be a part of and are already planning for 2018!!
